Monuments for a Future Civilization: Paintings by Minoru Nomata
Monuments for a Future Civilization: Paintings by Minoru Nomata
August 23, 2016 by Mariabruna Fabrizi
Japanese artist Minoru Nomata graduated from the Design Department of Tokyo University of the Arts and started working as a painter at the end of the 1970’s. Each one of his vertical or horizontal paintings portraits a heroic building conceived by Nomata and represented as standing alone at the middle of the picture. The buildings (mostly observatories and towers) echo ancient monuments of forgotten civilizations but bear, at the same time, a futuristic feeling, sometimes underlined by enigmatic technological insertions.
Affascinanti, incantati, magici questi “manieri”.
